The Self Sacrifice of Kindness

I would rather make mistakes in kindness and compassion than work miracles in unkindness and hardness.

-Mother Teresa

Each year during this time of sacrifice as a child growing up, my friends and I were always excited to share with one another what we would be giving up for 40 days.  This year, instead up giving anything up, I ask myself “what I can give: to those around me, strangers, and the world?”  In order to truly give to others; there must be a sacrifice of one’s self.  In order to sacrifice for others, one must step outside his or her own self-imposed boundaries.  The sacrifice of leaving that comfortable state will set you free to change people’s hearts and minds, one at a time.

Therefore, we ask you all to join us in sacrificing a tiny bit of yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone to help a fellow human being.  It can be as simple as a smile, a gesture, or even holding the door to an elevator.

Please share your tales of kindness with us so that we may share them with others.

Leaving you today with more Mother Teresa Wisdom…

Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echos are truly endless.
